England’s medical staff will assess the state of Gareth Barry’s ankle injury on Tuesday ahead of Capello making a decision on whether he will be able to be included in the squad for South Africa.

An ankle sprain that was initially expected to just keep him out for Manchester City’s final game of the season has turned out to be a lot worse than first thought, and is now almost certain to rule Gareth Barry out of the England squad.
