The World is Waiting for Paul the Octopus to Make His Prediction

The hype surrounding “Paul the Octopus” reached a whole new level of crazy on Sunday as some less reliable bloggers released fake pictures showing Paul predicting a Spain win over Germany in the semi final. People have been going bananas over these fake pictures and it seems like some people actually think they are real. So let us make it very clear. Paul the Octopus has not yet made his prediction for the game between Germany and Spain, the fact that these pictures of him making the prediction was released in the middle of the night between Sunday and Monday (German time) should be proof enough that it was fake.

Usually Paul the Octopus is making his predictions the day before the game takes place and since the match between Germany and Spain is scheduled to take place on Wednesday it’s safe to assume that the prediction will be released tomorrow.

Once the REAL prediction is made public we will publish the REAL pictures along with the REAL video here on BetOnWorldCup2010.com so make sure to bookmark this site and check back for the latest prediction. And remember… If you didn’t read it here, it didn’t happen.

    That is not true. In the game between Germany vs. England he predicted a Germany win. And the Germany box was on the left side. So he doesn't always pick the box on the right.

    I don't remember which website had predicted all the results and they were all correct. I remember showing my friend that site had predicted 4-0 win over Argentina and we laughed it off saying site is bogus. Now I regret not adding it to favorite. As per the site Netherlands and Germany will reach the final and germany will win the world cup. Score I faintly remember was shown as 1-0.

    There's a fly in the ointment here. Looked at it one way, Paul cannot come out of this match looking like a genius.

    Either -

    (1) Spain wins and he's 6 for 6 in matches and a WC picking genius (they havent had him pick any other WC match outside German ones, so who is to say he'd have ever gotten any wrong?)

    or

    (2) Germany wins and suddenly Paul is 100% in picking the winner when Germany plays anyone other than Spain, and is 100% in picking the loser for when Germany does play Spain, when it comes to major football competitions. The problem here is Paul can't communicate to humans his switch up of focus when it comes to Spainish/German matches, so it's assumed he's aiming for the winner a la all his other picks, when he's not
