Octopus Prediction Says Spain, We Say Germany

By now it’s old news that Paul the psychic Octopus picked Spain to win the semi final against Germany. But could this be the first time during the 2010 World Cup that the mighty octopus is wrong? We sure think so!

The way these two teams have been playing we are amazed that the online sportsbooks are making Spain slight favorites to win this match. In our opinion it should be the other way around. Sure Germany had a minor hiccup against Serbia but that was a once in a World Cup thing that they quickly recovered from. Spain lost in their opening game against Switzerland and even though they also bounced right back from that they haven’t been as impressive as the young, quick and efficient German team.

So in tonight’s game our money is going against Paul’s prediction and hope that our analytical skills are better than a psychic octopus’ visions.

Paul’s Prediction: Spain to win.

    Well, it turns out that picking mussels from a box is more accurate. To be honest, I thought Muller out of the game would make a big difference. Germany are also serial 3rd place finishers & Spain were tired from Euro early in the finals. There was always a chance they would start to meld & build some momentum as the finals progressed.

    I am an Spaniard and I really proud of how Spain dominated the semi-final just like they dominated the EuroCup back on 2008. And I thank Paul for predicting right, But all this hate you and other people are spiting out is not healthy.
    This is a sport and this time, the best team win, no a player or a strategy or a referee or the prediction of an Octopus; the team play made it possible.
    I am thankful to the German team for playing a very clean game. (No like Brazil against Nederlands. So disappointed of Brazil) That is real football, the way should always be play. Two fault on the entire game! That is sportingship, and both Spain and Germany have play like that the entire WC. So congrats to Germany for having a great team and playing football like it should always be played.
    Remember, is no just about winning, but about enjoying and celebrating good football. Football is not the world sport because of the winning but because it brings people together… Otherwise, American-football would be the preferred sport, don't you think?
