No rush for World Cup tickets

1

The tickets for the World Cup 2010 games are usually very awaited and hard to get a hold on for anyyone. However it has now been reported that the sale of the tickets are going much slower than usual. The English Football Association (FA) was given 29,000 tickets and of those there are only around 23,000 sold so far. For all previous World Cup and European Championship has the demand been much more than the tickets handed out.

According to some supporter groups in England, this might be due to high ticket prices and travel costs, hard economic times but also the safety concerns in the host nation of South Africa. They have noticed that some fans are doubtful from these aspects.

It’s not only in England this can be seen, the Dutch and German Football Associations has not even sold a third of their given tickets.

What is your view of these worrying aspects? Let us know in the comments below.

Security has never bothered fans in the past, although there is more of a risk of a terrorist attack or being mugged on the street. The main factor is that you can only buy tickets with a credit card and most people have had their credit curtailed.
