New Zealand prepare for South Africa 2010
New Zealand has, like so many other teams, started to plan their pre-World Cup friendlies to make the best preparations for the 2010 World Cup. The Kiwis hasn’t been in the World Cup since 1982, and as a first warm up friendly they will face Mexico on the third of March, and the game will be played in Los Angeles, USA.
It has also been said that there will be five more games as part of the preparations for the South Africa adventure.
As you already know, New Zealand has been drawn in Group F together with World Champions Italy, Slovakia and Paraguay. They are clearly one of the least expected team to win the tournament or even progress from the group stages. They qualified after narrowly beating Bahrain in the play-off stages of the qualifiers.
National coach Ricki Herbert has been looking for Latin American opponents in their friendlies and he comments on the Maxico game:
“I think with Paraguay in the group, a game against Mexico is ideal for us.”, says Herbert.
