It’s Carnival Time in South Africa

1

If there is one word that binds the World audience together then it is FIFA. The World Cup fever has started once again and this time it is in South Africa. What started as a leisure game for peasants has now become the game for aristocrats as well. Now with the FIFA World Cup 2010 yet to kick start the mercury is already rising. The World Cup will begin its commemoration on June 10th. The limelight of the event is that the gathering will be filled not only with the players but also with the singers. There will be a flock of singers who are going to spice up the whole crowd. Come and dance to the peppy number of Shakira. If you want to know about the behind the scenes of FIFA 2010 preparation then do log on to the official South African government website. This website is a one stop portal for all the football news. One can even find the images of the preparation. Already there are lots of buzz going on in the media side.

The voice of celebration is already echoing in South Africa with airports filled with big banners of World Cup logos and pictures of the favourite stars. There are lots of big international companies lining up to write their company’s name in the sponsors list. But experts say that the whole junk of the profits from the biggest sporting event will be taken by the big international investors and the FIFA, the international soccer federation. If you are a fan follower of FIFA then one cannot forget the profits of 2006 World cup that was held in Germany. The profits hit whopping $6 Billion. The big companies, who try their luck this time, expect more than what the profits were in the last World Cup. New stadiums are built this time and South Africa expects the World to join hands in their celebration. But there are some issues already popping out of the World Cup box.

Budweiser is going to be the official sponsor leaving out one of the World’s largest beer maker, the South African Breweries. You will e loving the burgers you eat at FIFA as McDonald’s takes the centre stage for the hungry fans and not the food caters of South Africa. The discrepancies do not stop here. Even the South African tourism has walked out empty handed in this FIFA by paving way for Emirates. So who is going to get benefited with this FIFA World Cup? Why are the South African companies stepping out of this carnival? These questions still remain unanswered. Nevertheless the preparation for the World Cup is going thick and fast. DSTV Supersport is the official broadcaster for this World Cup. The opening ceremony of FIFA will see a star constellated ceremony with many celebrities promised to make their presence. This June is going to be a carnival time for all the football fans. Come to see your favourite sport star play and join hands for the greatest sport.

South African companies are masters at ambush marketing and SAB, SA tourism and Kulula have all benefited from their local marketing power. Not to mention Steers, Wimpy and others who's ads have largely gone viral. That the list includes well known naught advertisers like Nandos that well known South African chicken specialist restaurant/takeaways.
