The first match in highly competitive Group D takes place in Durban on day three of the tournament, at 20:30 local time. Germany will be keen, as one of the favourites, to prove their credentials in the group stage, despite tough opposition. Whilst Australia have a good chance of getting through the group, it is hard to see anybody but Germany winning this game.

With players like Klose, winner of the Golden Boot at the last tournament, there is a good chance Germany will put more than one goal past the opposition, and it will be hard for Australia to find their way past the tough German defence.
