England are the clear group favorites due to the impact Fabio Capello has had on the team. They have a lot of players in their peak right now and this is their best chance of winning the World Cup. Saying that, England will be highly dependent on their talisman, Wayne Rooney. If England are to go all the way, they need Rooney to be fully fit and in top form. If Rooney is injured or not at his best, England will struggle.

USA are very organized and play in with a 4-4-2 formation. Their players have ability and spirit but they don’t possess the quality up front to cause any real problems.

Slovenia should not be overlooked and to prove it, they knocked out Russia in the play-offs. They have a great defense and have conceded less goals than any other European team in the qualifiers. They are not blessed with many striking options but have enough to dig deep and get that vital second place spot.

Algeria managed to qualify in a replay against Egypt thanks to a monumental effort. The team is well spirited and young but struggle to perform when playing outside of Algeria. They will struggle in this group unfortunately due to their lack of quality and experience.
